SEASON 2024 : UPDATE!

SEASON 2024 : UPDATE!

United Confirmed the signing of Dirk Traub just before the pre season tour in July. The youngster has performed admirably and has shown good promise as a versatile midfielder, in the 8 appearances he has made so far.

United had a shaky start to the season, with a loss to Newcaslte in the Community shield. Since then however United have gone on a streak without defeat in all competitions. United are now back in pole position in the premier league table, but are level on points with Chelsea.

FIXTURE LIST

LEAGUE TABLE

United boss Alan McCready reflected on the season so far.

" We'll still getting into our stride. Some players have hit form early like Bryan DeConinck and Robinson, others are still finding their feet. So we have to be careful in this part of the season and perform consistently, and get results even if we arent playing in top gear yet. We've had some games like that. The draw against Chelsea, with Michael Doyle scoring the last gasp winner. It's all about stuff like that. The draw saved us a point and they all add up at the end of the season. We also expect some of last season's youngsters to play a bigger role this season. The back up striker slot is to be filled in by Sellier, Andy Welsh and Helder Neiva. Scardovi and Traub are going to have to step up and provide some midfield creativity. Overall its been a good start, lets see if the players can really turn it up a notch before christmas !"

So based on performances so far, heres our pick for young players to look out for this season.

Philippe Sellier, Age : 20, Position : AM/FC

Posted Image

Sellier has been impressing in the United reserves for a couple of seasons now and scored 11 goals in 30 appearances for hull, during his loan spell there. Allthough many suitors approached Alan McCready this season with hopes of signing the twenty year old, Alan insisted, he would get playing time at united this season and would get his chance to impress. And how the youngster has taken that chance to heart. With 5 goals in eight appearances, including a hattrick against his ex club Olympique de Marseille in the champions league group stages this season. This could be the year Phillipe Sellier becomes a well known name in club football.

Frederik Mathijsen, Age : 20, Defender

The young Norweigian, joined United from Viking in 2021. Since then hes spent a year in the United Reserves and a year on loan at MK Dons. It was his loan spell that caught the eye with 4 man of the match performances, in his eleven appearances. Having made 4 appearances for united including a recent start against Olympique de Marseille, Alan McCready seems to be happy with the youngster's progress. As Mathias Hristic exploded on to the scene last season, this season seems to be all set for another defender with tons of talent coming through the United ranks.

Andy Welsh, Age : 20 , striker

Posted Image

Welsh is already a well known talent at old trafford. With 10 goals scored in 15 appearances last season, Welsh's talent is unquestionable. Alan McCready calls him the best english talent of his generation. What remains to be seen is whether he can fulfill his potential. Welsh has been earmarked for more appearances this season and if last season's performances are anything to go by, this should be a good season for United on the scoring charts.

TRANSFER ACTIVITY

FIRST SIGNINGS

Alan McCready took an early flight to Germany Thursday night, and reports emerged, the following morning that this was to meet with the family and agent of Madrid youngster Dirk Traub. While media and competitor attention lay focused on Traub and his agents whereabouts, McCready has swooped in to sign a promising youngster from FSV Mainz.

We introduce you to United's first signing of the transfer window,

German Striker, Left Winger Markus Berger

At just 15 years, this is one of United's youngest signings, but Alan McCready has full confidence in the striker's ability and potential.

" We've been following Markus's progress for a while now. Nils Scharner spotted the young lad in an exhibition game for the football academy here at Mainz. He scored 3 goals in that game and set up another. His performances have been consistent and hes made good progress at the academy. We decided it was the right time to make a move for the player since we feel he will develop better under Ole and Rene's guidance."

Meanwhile United Managing Director Guiseppe Boscolo and Coach Rene Meulensteen were present as the club announced the signing of promising England youngster Tom France from West Ham, for an undisclosed fee. France made several appearance for the West Ham under 18s last season and generated interest from several top clubs including Newcastle, Chelsea and FC Bayern.

United win the champions league 2023

KINGS OF EUROPE

Posted Image

On a very special evening at Spyro Louis Stadium, Greece, last night, United were crowned kings of europe, following a fantastic game of football which saw united run out 3-0 victors over A.C Milan, with captain Dominic Ferguson scoring a brace. This is the fifth time in United's history that they have won the champions league, and that means they will keep the trophy.

Alan McCready's post match comments :

" It is a fantastic achievement. I've been here before, but nothing can ever dampen the feeling of emerging champions of Europe. We've done it this time against A.C Milan, a club with such a great pedigree when it comes to this competition, it makes the victory that much sweeter. The players were great today, we wanted to win so much, you could see it in their approach to the game. Milan couldn't handle our pace and tempo !. I am very happy for all the lads. For some of our players its their first champions league win ! and all credit to their desire and effort! "

Alan named a predictable starting line up, with his his starting line up being injury free.

Niels Poot in place of Ryan Page and Oswald in place of Cleber were perhaps the only surprise inclusions.

Back four saw the best defense in the premier league take to the field. With Martinetti and Muzar in the middle and Jamie Wilson and Alper Turk at left and right back.

Poot and McCabe provided the creativity in midfield, with Bianchi dropping in behind striker and captain Dom ferguson.

Brian Deconinck and Michal Svec provided fire power on the wing.

Both teams started with some lively football and threatened the goals at both ends. However the age difference in the squads became evident as the match went on, Milan unable to cope with United's pace going forward. The breakthrough came in the 12th minute with Deconinck slotting in a powerfully drilled cross from Svec on the counter.

The first goal seemed to push Milan into panic mode as the players pushed forward in search of the equalizer. United took full advantage hitting Milan on the counter twice within the next 15 minutes, Ferguson scoring with placed shots on both occasions.

Milan regained their composure in the second half and pressured united's defence, but with Muzar on form and Oswalk performing admirably, the 3-0 scoreline was maintained.

As the final whistle blew, United's players found a last burst of energy to race to the dug out and celebrate with the manager and fans.

CHAMPIONS!

United Win the Premier League third consecutive season in running.

Allthough declared victors with four games to spare, the celebrations truly began last night in front of the United faithful, as the red devils lifted the Premier league trophy once again in 2023. This is league title number 22 for United.

We spoke with united ambassador Ryan Giggs, a man who knows a thing or two about winning titles.

" We have a history with winning the premier league. We are the most successful team in the country as far as this competition goes, but each win is special. Its always a great experience for new players and old ones. The manager gets to see his work and effort come full circle. Its a great moment no matter how many times you do it. McCready has done great work since joining here. It almost feels like the 1990 - 2010 years, when we dominated the league. Lets hope the success continues and we can bring more silverware home this season, with United playing in both the FA cup and Champions League finals! "

Experts Picked United's most Influential Player of the Season.

Dave Robinson

The young academy product scored 26 goals in all competitions and carried the team through mid season as it reeled under the loss of Dom Ferguson and David McCabe to injury. There is conjecture that McCready is already entering into talks with Robinson over an improved contract in offer to reflect the player's importance to the team.

Match Coverage : United v/s Arsenal, Premier League

UNITED SMASH ARSENAL AT THE EMIRATES

Get all the stats at Match Focus

It was that man Dominic Ferguson again who popped up to score a sublime hatrick as United tightened the screws on their conquest of the premier league crown this season.

United's holy trinity of the attacking midfielder ( David McCabe) with 2 forwards ( Dom Ferguson and Dave Robinson ) came up trumps again as they made Arsenal look ordinary at the emirates stadium.

The weather promised a torrid time for Arsenal as 3 minutes into the game a slip from defender Lucas Sevcik allowed David McCabe to latch on to Robinson's driven low cross into the area. McCabe tucked it away into the bottom left corner to score the first of the night.

United's attacking trio along with winger Michal Svec then went on to play some excellent one touch football to score United's Second and Third and the 14th and 34th minute. Both placed shots from the edge of the box by Dom Ferguson.

The Second half saw Arsenal show more intent and hunger as they battled for the ball and dominated posession. The United defence was not to be undone though as they easily held on to the 3-0 lead. Ryan page then dispossessed the Arsenal attacking at the 75th minute to set of Ferguson on a run as he lobbed the ball ahead for Ferguson to score a simple slot in for his third of the night. United fans were in full voice and the Arsenal faithfull were silenced watching the ex-arsenal striker seal the victory for their opponents.

Arsenal forward Sam O'Sullivan picked up a consolation goal late into the game as United's defense tired, but it was a small consolation that couldnt make up for a 4-1 loss to their league rivals.

We caught up with Manager Alan McCready for some post match comments :

What a game Alan!, did you expect a victory of this magnitude ?

Honestly, I thought it would be a lot closer, with the winner winning by a 2-1 scoreline or even a draw. I'm pleased that the players found that extra bit of flair playing against Arsenal today.

Where do you think Arsenal faltered ?

I think we wanted it more today. If you look at the stats they're pretty even for both teams. It came down simply to better finishing and more hunger up front.

Is the premier league in the bag now Alan ?
Its not over until its over. We'll still take it one game at a time and perform to win. I will say though, that I am happy with our position and our opponents cant make anymore mistakes if they want to challenge us. Thats a good place to be in.

Theres talk of a treble for United. Your views ?

Im not the one talking about it ( smile ). Trebles happen. You dont plan for them. You plan for the next game. We'll try to win every game we play. We'll see where that takes us.

Last question, Ryan Nelsen ( Arsenal Manager ) commented that your loss to stoke could make you vulnerable today. Any words for him ?

Ryan is a smart man. He should know United don't like to lose twice in a row.

It wont be easy and it will take a lot of hard work and grit. We'll take the games as they come, one by one. The game against shakhtar, we looked quite good. Now we need to build on that performance. General Club News

Bianchi Wants Out ???

There are reports circulating in the Italian media that Marco Bianchi is looking to leave Manchester United.

" I have won everything in English football except the FA cup. I've won the champions league also with Manchester United. Sometime in the near future i would like to play in such competitions with other clubs as well. Just as a new challenge. I love United of course and have enjoyed playing with my team mates a lot. I intend to stay here at least until my contract is out. " ... The Italian daily quoted him as saying.

Bianchi has been a central figure for the United midfield and he enjoys a god like status amongst the fans, but with rumors of training ground clashes with new signing Svec and reports of his star status affecting life in the United dressing room, there may be more than just smoke in the italian report.

We asked Alan McCready for his comments on the issue.

" I havent spoken to Marco ( Bianchi ) about this. He has never come to me with any discontent and I honestly dont think theres a lot of truth to the report.

That said, Marco has been a faithful servant of this club since i signed him and if he needs a change in his career we would have to seriously consider that. I'd hate to see him leave, as would any United fan or player. However, Marco's feelings must be considered as well. I will discuss this with Marco, at some point in the near future, but i wouldnt read too much into the report.

As far as the training ground clashes with team mates are concerned. The story is pure hogwash. No one ever gets along all the time but that doesnt mean you've been at each other's throats in training."

Experts close to United say, allthough Alan sounds magnanimous to the media, he will be doing all he can to keep Bianchi at United.

In Other news
, the club confirm they have agreed to a transfer deal with Cork City for United academy product, Chris Knowles. The young right back, was reportedly excited at the prospect of playing as back up for the club. Knowles has been touted as a future england star and United will have thought twice before letting him go.

" The boys got talent for sure and he wanted to get down to playing first team football soon. With all the cover we have at right back I'm not sure that would have been possible for him here. We have to consider the future of young players like Chris when we make transfer decisions and we decided it was best to let Chris move to Cork. He's a good lad and we wish him all the best. " ... McCready said at his weekly conference in response to a media question pertaining to youth development.
