On a very special evening at Spyro Louis Stadium, Greece, last night, United were crowned kings of europe, following a fantastic game of football which saw united run out 3-0 victors over A.C Milan, with captain Dominic Ferguson scoring a brace. This is the fifth time in United's history that they have won the champions league, and that means they will keep the trophy.

Alan McCready's post match comments :

" It is a fantastic achievement. I've been here before, but nothing can ever dampen the feeling of emerging champions of Europe. We've done it this time against A.C Milan, a club with such a great pedigree when it comes to this competition, it makes the victory that much sweeter. The players were great today, we wanted to win so much, you could see it in their approach to the game. Milan couldn't handle our pace and tempo !. I am very happy for all the lads. For some of our players its their first champions league win ! and all credit to their desire and effort! "

Alan named a predictable starting line up, with his his starting line up being injury free.

Niels Poot in place of Ryan Page and Oswald in place of Cleber were perhaps the only surprise inclusions.

Back four saw the best defense in the premier league take to the field. With Martinetti and Muzar in the middle and Jamie Wilson and Alper Turk at left and right back.

Poot and McCabe provided the creativity in midfield, with Bianchi dropping in behind striker and captain Dom ferguson.

Brian Deconinck and Michal Svec provided fire power on the wing.

Both teams started with some lively football and threatened the goals at both ends. However the age difference in the squads became evident as the match went on, Milan unable to cope with United's pace going forward. The breakthrough came in the 12th minute with Deconinck slotting in a powerfully drilled cross from Svec on the counter.

The first goal seemed to push Milan into panic mode as the players pushed forward in search of the equalizer. United took full advantage hitting Milan on the counter twice within the next 15 minutes, Ferguson scoring with placed shots on both occasions.

Milan regained their composure in the second half and pressured united's defence, but with Muzar on form and Oswalk performing admirably, the 3-0 scoreline was maintained.

As the final whistle blew, United's players found a last burst of energy to race to the dug out and celebrate with the manager and fans.
